Richard Byrne's Blog Discussion

The first thing I discovered was the crash course channel that Byrne posted from YouTube. What a great way for someone to get a quick view of a topic. I watched a crash course video on Ancient Egypt.  Byrne also included a “Making Videos for the classroom” section on his blog. He added some helpful tips on using a flip camera. I think this link he included on flip cameras would be very useful in my classroom. Students today are so good with technology they just need some tips on how to apply it and make it useful rather then just away to communicate socially, this blog can do that.  He also included free downloads which can be really helpful for teachers. The only issue I would say is that most of the links take a long time to pull up. That can be very frustrating when your teaching and you trying to get a 40 min. class in. It can be to slow loading or not work at all.  I think creating a blog for my students is a great way for them to use technology to find alternative means of research. I could post videos I find related to my topics and post information that is helpful. I could also post deadlines and have them post their work through comments on my blog as well as have discussion through blog. I think the blog is a powerful tool to make learning fun!
